Please help me confirm…想請(qǐng)人幫忙確認(rèn)，這樣說(shuō)哪裡有錯(cuò)？－戒掉爛英文｜商周

我們經(jīng)常在email中請(qǐng)人幫忙，就會(huì)寫(xiě)出這樣的句子：

（Ｘ）Could you help me pass the feedback on to the relevant department?（請(qǐng)幫我把回饋意見(jiàn)轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)給相關(guān)單位。）

（Ｘ）Please help me confirm the following information.（請(qǐng)幫我確認(rèn)以下資訊。）

這樣寫(xiě)有錯(cuò)嗎？有，這兩句話都錯(cuò)了。不要小看help這個(gè)看上去那麼簡(jiǎn)單，它就是很容易錯(cuò)。今天來(lái)看help這個(gè)字的誤區(qū)。

我們常常用「幫」這個(gè)字，像「幫」我買(mǎi)一杯咖啡、「幫」我開(kāi)個(gè)窗，這個(gè)「幫」不用help。因?yàn)閔elp someone do something，是指「協(xié)助某人做某事」，有「合力」完成的意思，例如：Could you help me up with this suitcase?（你幫我把這箱子搬到樓上好嗎？）這句話是對(duì)的，意思是兩人合力完成，我在搬箱子的時(shí)候，你也在搬。

但以下這句話，用help就很怪：Could you help me get a cup of coffee?這句話，老外聽(tīng)起來(lái)像「能不能兩人合力一起去買(mǎi)咖啡」？但大部份時(shí)候請(qǐng)人幫你買(mǎi)咖啡，你自己並不會(huì)去。

因此，若想請(qǐng)別人幫你買(mǎi)咖啡，你可以說(shuō)：Could you get a cup of coffee for me?

還有類(lèi)似的狀況：請(qǐng)幫我開(kāi)窗好嗎？

（Ｘ）Could you help me open the window?

（Ｏ）Could you open the window for me?

能幫我修這臺(tái)電腦嗎？

（Ｘ）Could you help me fix the computer?

（Ｏ）Could you fix the computer for me?

前面email常見(jiàn)的那兩句話，直接刪掉help me刪掉即可：

Could you pass the feedback on to the relevant department?（請(qǐng)幫我把回饋意見(jiàn)轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)給相關(guān)單位。）

Please confirm the following information.（請(qǐng)幫我確認(rèn)以下資訊。）

（Ｘ）Please let me know if there is anything I can help.

（Ｏ）Please let me know if there is anything I can help with.

注意：這句話在email的最後出現(xiàn)時(shí)，help之後要加一個(gè)with。

help someone with something這樣的句型，大家應(yīng)該不陌生。例如：I can help you with the washing up.（我可以幫你洗。）

在改成疑問(wèn)句時(shí)，這個(gè)with不要漏掉。使用iPhone，Siri也經(jīng)常問(wèn)：What can I help you with?

（Ｘ）這不能被幫助。

（Ｏ）別無(wú)選擇、無(wú)法挽回。

來(lái)看一個(gè)常見(jiàn)口語(yǔ)：it can't be helped.表面的意思是「幫不上忙」，引申為「無(wú)可挽回； 這是無(wú)法避免的；實(shí)在沒(méi)辦法；只好這樣」。例如：

It's not an ideal solution, but it can't be helped.（這不是個(gè)理想的解決方案，但我們沒(méi)有其他的選擇。）
