Step 1: File the Top Coat Off Use a medium-grit nail file to gently buff away the shiny topcoat of your gel polish. This step helps the acetone penetrate the layers faster. Pro Tip: Be careful not to over-file—you only need to remove the glossy layer, not your natural nail! Step 2: Soak Cotton in Acetone & Wrap Your NailsSoak a cotton ball or pad in 100% pure acetone and place it on top of each nail.Wrap each fingertip with a small square of aluminum foil to hold the cotton in place.Repeat this for all nails.?? Why does this work? The foil traps heat and keeps the acetone from evaporating, breaking down the gel polish faster. Step 3: Let It Soak (Patience is Key!)Allow your nails to soak for 10-15 minutes to fully dissolve the gel. Pro Tip: If you’re in a rush, wrap your hands in a warm towel to speed up the process! Step 4: Gently Push Off the Gel PolishRemove one foil wrap and use an orangewood stick or cuticle pusher to gently lift the softened gel.If the gel doesn’t slide off easily, re-wrap and soak for another 5 minutes.Do NOT force or scrape off the gel! This can damage your natural nails. Step 5: Buff & Moisturize Your NailsOnce all the gel is removed, use a buffer block to smooth out any residue.Wash your hands and apply cuticle oil to rehydrate your nails.Finish with a nail strengthener or hydrating base coat to restore nail health. |
